Digital Symposiums
Despite limitations on physical space due to COVID-19, we conducted a series of successful x5 Museum of Youth Culture symposiums, alongside collaborations on external symposiums promoting project progress.
This included one of our Outreach Champions, El Affleck presenting on our behalf at a London Metropolitan Archives Event (31st August 2020), and at the International Zine Librarian (Un)Conference (IZLUC) (30th November 2020) with our partners at the German Archiv der Jugendkulturen discussing the LGBTQ+ zines she has purchased and digitised for the Museum of Youth Culture.
Conducting online symposiums has definitely inspired us to work on more digital events in the future, however we certainly don’t see this as a replacement for the wellbeing element of conducting in-person community oriented events and exhibitions.
Digital Week Long Symposium 1st June 2020;
Monday 1st June: Dr Cat Rossi - Professor of Design History at University of Kingston
Tuesday 2nd June: Georgina Cook - Drum 'n' Bass Photographer Wednesday 3rd June: Rave Flyer Collectors Phatmedia & Chelsea Berlin
Thursday 4th - Acid House Flashback - Blackburn Rave History, Heritage Funded Project
Friday 5th - Digital Show and Tell with Public Contributors to the Archive
